Case Study: Seamless Logistics: Fueling the Future of Automotive Manufacturing
The Mission: Precision Infrastructure for High-Intensity Logistics
For Circle K Atlanta and Gas Express, the 76 / TA Express was more than a standard truck stop; it was a mission-critical node for the Kia Georgia assembly plant. We provided the comprehensive civil engineering and infrastructure planning required to transform a 6.25-acre site into a high-performance fueling hub. Our scope included utility routing for fuel lines, MPD and canopy layout for 11 dispensers, and complex DOT permit management to ensure the facility could handle the 24/7 demands of a global supply chain.
The Innovation: Engineering the “Circle of Flow”
The primary challenge was preventing traffic spillback that could paralyze the I-85 corridor or the Kia plant’s logistics. Understanding the anxiety of busted budgets and operational delays, we moved beyond a standard entrance. We engineered a large-scale traffic circle at the facility’s gateway. This choice wasn’t just about asphalt; it was a proactive strategy to ensure that just-in-time raw materials and finished vehicles moved without friction. By anticipating the extreme axle loads and volume, our truck turn analysis and heavy-duty pavement design created a resilient “future-proofed” infrastructure that honors the precision of the manufacturing it serves.
The Result: A Partnership in Motion
The result is a facility that operates as a seamless extension of the Kia assembly line. By integrating 30 truck parking spaces and high capacity fueling with a fluid traffic design, we delivered a project that minimizes congestion and maximizes uptime. The site now stands as a vital community asset, balancing high-intensity logistics with the operational excellence required by one of Georgia’s largest employers.
